ACG Work Day 1/29/11

Thanks to all ACG members and visitors for attending our work day and compost workshop. We

pulled lots of weeds. We planted several fruit trees and built a compost bin. We would like to send out a special thank you to Laura for speaking with us about organic composting and for helping ACG with building a successful compost bin.

Compost Workshop Jan 29th

The Arroyo Community Garden is hosting an Organic Composting Workshop on January 29th at 10:00am. The workshop instructor will be Laura Colvin, an avid organic gardner and guest speaker. Laura will be discussing various methods of fast & slow composting, gathering and storing various building materials, and methods of piling (depending on needs, rodent problems, etc). Learn how to build a multi-bin composting system and build a proper compost pile. Work clothes, work shoes and gloves are recommended. We will have coffee, water and snacks! See ya at the garden!

ACG Winter

Well,

Winter is now here and the garden is looking sleepy. The ground is saturated (which makes for easy weed pulling) and the apple trees are bare. I'm excited to see the new changes for this year. We may see a storage shed, new compost bins/piles, a sign & new gardeners.
